One unique feature of ASK is in the color belts and certifications.  Each student receives belts with their school logo on one side and their association logo on the other.

White, yellow and orange belts also have their name on the belt.  This helps them to learn each others names as well as helping the instructors learn their names.

Each student (in addition to a rank certificate) also receive a laminated ID card and 10 business cards.

Because students are not allowed to brag about or show off their karate skills, the business cards help them with the temptation as it offers one week of free lessons for the person to whom they give the card.  And yes, this also helps us show people what we do in hopes that they will join our school.

Text Box: American Street Karate members are made up of schools whose owners have been successfully teaching martial arts for many years and have lost or outgrown their current or former certifying authority.

Senior instructor for the ASK is Billy Wiley (10th Dan) located in Lubbock, Tx.
2nd highest instructor is Danny Passmore (8th Dan) located in Waco, Tx.
Other senior instructors are Gary Pieratt, John Sidell and Joe Kendrick.

The ASK logo is a black belt around the red and blue yin yang symbol in the middle of the American Eagle. The Eagle is clutching and olive branch and pack or arrows on a white shield with black border.

The shield represents protection.
The white background represents Purity. Purity is defined as Modesty in Dress and Behavior. This means wearing revealing clothing, including sagging pants, is not practicing modesty and therefore disqualifies the practice of purity.
The Olive Branch represents Peace. Olive trees grow slowly and do not produce fruit for some time. In Biblical times, travelers who entered a land with Olive trees knew there was probably peace in the region as the trees had not been ravaged by armies for food and firewood.
The arrows represent an ability and willingness to war for self defense.
The Eagle represents the United States of American and is looking in the direction of peace.

Belting in ASK
Text Box: American Street Karate or ASK is an organization created by Danny Passmore as a certifying entity for martial arts schools who practice eclectic systems and include ethics in their business dealings and personal lives.

In addition to Ethical standards, qualifications for membership also include kicks, strikes, grabs & ground self defense training.

American Street Karate (or ASK) is an eclectic system which takes the application of techniques from all available arts and incorporates them into a training mentality of survival.  The techniques are designed for one purpose: to stop an aggressor quickly and effectively.  Teaching formats blend from beginner to advanced by building on a strong, fundamental base of self-defense applications and philosophy.
